About Dunlap

Dunlap Elementary School is a kindergarten through grade eight school, serving approximately 385 students in a picturesque mountain environment. The school has 21 classrooms, and employs approximately 40 staff.  Dunlap Elementary School has the largest attendance area in the Kings Canyon Unified School District.  Dunlap Elementary serves the mountain communities of Dunlap, Squaw Valley, Wonder Valley, Miramonte, Pinehurst and the Kings Canyon National Park.

Dunlap Elementary School has a strong commitment to excellence and the caring staff provides the foundational link for success and achievement. Our school is dedicated to ensuring a rich learning experience for each student. Our staff is committed to focusing instruction on the state standards and fostering academic excellence. Our goal is for each student to achieve to their greatest potential. To this end, the staff works collaboratively to ensure that classroom instruction is standards-based and is designed to engage every student in the learning process. Students who need extra support will find it in the classroom and through additional intervention opportunities. We also offer an engaging after-school program for our TK/Kindergarten – 8th grade. We believe that a close home/school partnership is essential for supporting our students in their academic achievement and their personal development.

Our focus at Dunlap School is to provide the highest quality education possible for each student in a warm and nurturing environment that fosters optimal student achievement.  It is the expectation of Dunlap School that students will be respectful, responsible and ready. We welcome parent involvement and view parents as our partners in the education of our students.
